Could anyone enlighten me? I just got myself a couple speakers rated at 6 OHMs and my AMP is rated at 8 OHMs. Is it o.k. to hook them up with regular cable, do i need special cable or something to that degree, or am i just plain out of luck?
Thanks
Tim

Hi timjam,
Your amp will drive the 6-ohm speakers with no problem. It's only when speaker impedance touches 4 ohms, which means higher current flow through the output stage, that some receivers and amps may tend to overheat or trigger protection circuitry. You don't need special cable. Just use 14-gauge or 12-gauge cable to keep resistance low.
