It seems that the "A" position would be best in the diagram above.
If I can hi-jack for a moment. What if he were to be running a 7.1 set-up, with the "B" speakers equalling the rear surrounds. Where would the "A" speakers best be placed? Any ideas?
I too have a room where the listening area opens up and I cant decide between ceiling mount, stand mount or back wall mount for the QS8 located closest to the bottom (in the diagram).

Oof! I actually have mine setup as B and feel that having them setup that way just goes to show forgiving the speakers are. My brother was visiting this last week and I made him sit in the sweet spot and watch a couple of movies. He did a couple of doubletakes and said 'I'm not sure I'm comfortable with speakers fooling me into hearing things where they are not.' --- All that in a setup really not even close to optimum. Yippee!

Mike, in my view slightly better would be position "A", but mounted only on the short section of side wall and not angled, but facing directly across at each other.

That is how I have mine, and I am very happy with them.

JohnK: In that arrangement, the "back" tweeters will butt up against the back wall? Will that be a problem?

This is my dilemma, as well. I've got 17" on one wall to place a QS8 (11" wide). That leaves 6" between the back wall & the QS8.
Will this be a problem?

Mike and Mykyl, the back tweeters wouldn't actually be butting right up against the back wall, and as long as there's at least a few inches of "bounce" distance, the result should be good.
