Yes! Please do! (I'm not trying to start anything. I just couldn't resist, so cool your jets! )

Imagine my disappointment that this thread has nothing whatsoever to do with fishing. Tragic, really. Where's Furrer?

My momma always said it was impolite to discuss money, politics and religion. I'd rather keep my friends and embrace our common joys than dwell on the different ways we all frame our world.

Sorry. Should have made it clearer that what I couldn't resist was the unintended double entendre of the phrase "GO BUSH." Make no assumptions about my political leanings from my play on words. I thought Moab's post was humorously instructive, so I just joined in the tongue in cheek humor. I'm the one usually pleading for avoidance of political posting. I feel this isn't the appropriate place for it. But, at the same time, IMHO, we shouldn't get so up tight that we can't laugh at ourselves, now and then, even when it concerns politics.

It does seem to get pretty nasty, often.
I majored in PoliSci and teach history, gov't and econ. Sometimes forget that people aren't discussing these subjects as openly or frequently as I do.
The list of taboo subjects also includes sex, money and your job, right?

Tangentially(sp?), I saw on AVS forum that posting links to discount retailers, or even saying how much you paid for a piece of equipment, is against the rules. That's ridiculous!
Once again I applaud the generally tolerant oversight of this forum. To censor the free exchange of info and ideas is far more repugnant, IMO, than the ugliest exchange I've ever witnessed.

I agree completely. I don't think there should be any RULES or LAWS about what we can or can't discuss here. But, I do think it would demonstrate wisdom if we voluntarily avoided the off topic subjects that obviously can set things off. We have enough "on topic" differences that can do that. At the risk of sounding pollyannaish (is that a word?), it's far more important to me to maintain the friendships I've formed here (and ridiculous as it may be, I do think of most of you as friends), than it is to impose my political positions on others here who may feel differently.

This is a forum about speakers, and related subjects. If I wish to express my positions on political issues, I'm sure there are other forums on the internet that would welcome them.

OK. Now let's talk about SEX! I don't HAVE any money or a job, so I can't talk about that.

My expression "Go Bush" was intended as a joke to the related thread. If its offensive to anybody...............then to bad get a sense of humor! We can have a little fun and thats all it was and it shouldnt be read in any other way. Now lets all take out chill pills and and I guess talk about the sound stage of the diffenent speakers or something more exciting

And that's exactly how I took it. I laughed aloud when I read it. My reply was meant as a shot at humor, not at Mr. Bush.

Yeah! Like SEX! (I think I remember that it was exciting)
