I drove a friend's raised Jeep Cherokee Sport to work today since my sister is borrowing my car for a week. As I was pulling into the parking garage, I had to get out of the car and double check to make sure I wouldn't scrape the ceiling. What a pain in the butt that would have been if the car were even one inch taller.

When my truck was new the 5.3 L V8 got about 18 mpg around town and up to 21 mpg on vacation! I was stunned. 4 years later I get about 16 mpg. Still not bad compared to trucks of old.
But a guy has gotta have a truck - haulin' furniture, landscaping materials, towing boats, etc... If you work around the house there really is no alternative.

Will,
My parents have the same truck you do and they love it. I absolutely despise the look of the crew cabs. Trucks are NOT supposed to have 4 fully functional doors. My bro and I are both 6 feet and fit comfortably in the back seats. Plus the 2000 Silverado's don't have that god awful face that the newer ones do.

Cute, Ron, real cute. I think appearance is close to importance as reliability, power, safety, etc, etc. For that reason, I personally could not bring myself to buy a Quad cab truck.

The new Chevy's are hideous, but the GMC still looks OK. The Chevy's are advertised @ $7000-$9000 below sticker on a regular basis around here. Everybody wants the new crewcabs. I looked at the F150 - it is very nice, but costs about the same as an F250!

For looks, and sheer power, nothing beats the Dodge Ram SRT-10. Mmmmmm. Viper engine... Drool.
