Checked with the cable company - they suggested I turn the volume down so that I couldn't hear the hum. What kind of bullsh*t is that!

I put the parts together like you guys suggested, and whammo - Bob's your uncle - no more hum.

THANKS!

Cox is just as bad.. our regular cable srvc is kinda grainy, and some channels are real fuzzy and have waves across the screen. we are paying $48 bucks a month for just your basic 65 channel set, no extras.

everytime i call to complain about the crappy srvc, they say, "if you get digital cable at $65 dollars, it wont be like that". WHAT!!!!!!! first off, i dont wanna give your crappy a$$ company anymore money.. second, i should be getting good srvc for the already high $48 bucks i am paying.

it stinks, but you cant get the local stations with satellite in our area.. thanks to some other agreement Cox has with the FCC.. bastards!!!!!!!

That's funny. I thought that legally satellite networks had to offer local channels (for free, nonetheless). At least that's the way it is out here.

The other thing that's funny is that they actually give you prices over the phone.

Jeez John, maybe being in a larger market pays off. I've got Cox cable (in fact, I'm sending this via their high speed internet service). I've got no complaints about the cable TV or the internet service. Cable PQ is GREAT, and internet service is fast and rarely goes down. Of course, I've got the digital service you mentioned. Had to get that so I could get HDTV, which I love. (Browns game in Hi Def this weekend..........which I guess is both good AND bad ).

My complaint about Cox is that they charge an arm and a leg, and keep jacking up the price (though I guess most cable companies are guilty of that) I'm paying $118 month. But that's for regular channels, digital channels, HD channels, HBO, Showtime, and high speed internet service. And before you all freak out about that, keep in mind that I'm pretty much confined to this apartment caring for my 92 year old Mother who has dementia, and can only be left alone long enough to grab some groceries. In the last 4 years, I've not been to a movie, a play, a concert, a restaurant, a ball game, or any other form of entertainment.

So now you know why I'm as loony as I am . (NO CRACKS! )

Jack,

My parents also do their digital cable(although not HD yet), high speed internet, and home phone through Cox and have pretty much no complaints as well. I believe they pay something like $110 a month. They live in PHX so I guess living in a populated area has its advantages.

Home phone, too? Now that's interesting. I'll have to check that out.

I pay $142 a month for high speed internet, digital cable, (no HBO, etc.) and a built in PVR. I think that's pretty expensive.

As a Canuck looking at those rates, they do seem high. I get high speed, phone, long distance and basic cable for less then $80.00 per month and my high speed is something to behold. I get 7 Mbps down and 640 up. Is Direc TV and DISH network not an option or are they the same money?
