I'm not partial to the looks of the 170s, but the 340s aren't bad looking, especially on stands. I also know that you've mentioned that Ascend will be offering custom finishes. (right?) If I hadn't found Axiom first... who knows... I'd probably have used Hales or something, but hey...

The Ascend 340's are good looking speakers. The 170's are pretty much their only 'ugly' speaker. They sound damn nice though.

Well, when I'm wrong, I'll admit it.
Found out the day after my post that Ascend does indeed make speakers in colors other than black. Also offered are silver and almond "automotive type paint finishes" as well as naked (unfinished).Way to go, Ascend!
Hsu is still holding out for the most part. The silver VTF that Wid pictures is not available in all models, including the one I'm interested in.
Of course, I'm giving credit to SVS for thier finish choices in the new PB10, but I think all the cylinder subs are black, aren't they?
Oh well. I suspect all these things are likely to change to meet the competition. As for the "homely" part of my previous post ......
