If you have a sub the 60s will work great, I agree that the Bass could be better but just cross them at 60 or 80 and they sound great.
P.S. I'd still go M80s even with 2 subs. Bigger looks Badder when friends and family come over

You'll only need a sub with the M60's for movies. Set 'em to large and they'll output plenty of bass for 90% of music.

Funny, I have the Outlaw sub and about the same size room as you do. I love my M60's and do not need much more from them. With the savings that you get from going with the M60's I would go with dual Outlaw subs. I will be going that route once my wife turns her back on me. You will be very happy with the M60's but if you are still wondering you may want to check the Axiom listings to see if an M80 and an M60 owner is in your area.
I have heard that the M80's are a little more of a difficult to place and they are a power hungry set. If you do go the M80 route you may want an amp.

I am most certainly no expert.....that being said, why not buy both, try them and send the number two set back. You have thirty days to make up your mind. A hundred bucks or less in shipping will buy a lot of piece of mind and you won't have to listen all our opinions, which differ greatly.
I am being somewhat selfish in this as I would just love to here a comparative audition between the two sets. I don't think anyone's done that before.
One definite plus the 80's have, is they just plain look sexy with the covers off - if that matters to you. When I throw a party the covers usually get pulled off with a few OOH's and AWH's.
Oh, you won't need two Owtlaws, they pump a lot of air. Mine's in a much larger area than you have and I keep it set at the min X over, volume at around 11 o'clock.

Big John my good buddy, you can go deaf with the M60's
I was listening to music (5ch stereo) at -5.5 db (Denon AVR-3805) for about 25 minutes, then the remaining ten minutes at 0db (just cause) and the protection circuit on my receiver activated and shut the receiver off o.O
Apparently (as a friend came over) he could here my music at the end of the street (about 10 houses away), and the only thing open was my little basement wndow...
To the OP: You'll love the 60's, I know I do.

The M80s are not power hungry with a efficency rating of 95db.That is well above average. The Denon reciever should have no problems driving the 80s.As far as them being hard to place that myth was put to rest in the latest newsletter!

Wid, I agree. The M80's are like any other loudspeaker as far as placement. They are not "touchy" when it comes to setting up. I placed mine 18" from the back wall and about 10' apart with a very slight toe in. These puppies are very efficient and they don't require gobs of power. Although they can handle 400 Watts and I heard that they can handle a lot more.

Well Rick, I hate to disagree with you, but you got on my case when you felt I was posting less than truthful statements about the M80s and placement, so I feel it's only proper that I correct yours.
What was put to rest in the newsletter was the misstatement that ALAN said they were hard to place in all cases. What he said was they are difficult to place in a small space. In the newsletter Alan said:
" My comments about the M80ti's relate to setting them up in smaller rooms where there isn't a lot of elbowroom to move stuff around."
" In an average room like mine (19 x 14 x 9 ft.), jammed with other speakers and equipment, where I sit no more than 10 feet back, you can't just plunk M80ti's down and expect to get a perfect soundstage. You have to experiment, moving them away from corners, out from the wall behind them and adjusting toe-in."
Divot has a room a bit larger than Alan's and might not have any placement problems with the M80s whatsoever. Regardless, there have been several forum members who have posted they experienced difficulty in placing the M80s. One reached the point where he finally sold them and moved on to other speakers. I think the fair way to say it is, some people have had problems in placing the M80s, others (like you) haven't.
Thus, to characterize the M80s placement difficulties as a "myth" is as untrue as to say they are difficult to place in every room, regardless of size.

Jack,
Fair enough,I will not argue the fact that they could be more challenging to place in a small room,as would most tower speakers.Alan did say you just can't plunk them(M80s) down and expect a to get a perfect sound stage, can a person do this with any speaker and expect them to sound their best?
