Is it better to have the rear surrounds higher and in the back vs a qs stand and to the sides? I thought the rears are suppose to be about 6 feet in the are and a few feet above your listening pos. With the qs line and the stand, that really is not possibly. What do you guys recommend. The room is rectangle, 8'H 14.5'w 17.5'l. The tv is going to be at one end of the long walls. I have a 7.1 receiver but currently dont have any surrouns. couch is about 2 feet from the back wall. Thanks again for any help.

I've asked Axiom regarding this question before. It's not a matter of the height of the stands being "ideal", it's that in the design of the stands that if they made them any taller, they'd be easier to topple over...which isn't a good result.
They recommend that, if you can, hang them on the wall. As you stated, about 6 feet up and a couple/few feet back is ideal.
The stands are more an option for people who don't have the option for mounting their surrounds.
So again, if you can...mount 'em!
Hope this helps!

What Misfit said.
From the Axiom FAQ:
Where should I place my surround speakers?
Ideally, surround speakers should be either wall-mounted or stand-mounted to either side of the couch or primary listening area, from one to six feet higher than seated listeners' ears, and slightly forward or rearwards of the listening area if you wish. Axiom's Quadpolar surrounds are especially versatile and can yield excellent performance with stand or wall-mounting to the rear as well as at side locations. (see our dedicated stands for the QS Surround speakers in the Store). Rear center speakers for 6.1 and 7.1 installations are intended to go on the rear wall at about the same height as the surround speakers.
