The Clinton Presidential Library........(no, this isn't going to be a political post)...was dedicated recently.
I happened to see a few news reports on tv about it....and when they showed the Library building, I saw something the Media missed.
Looming in the background was a massive railroad lift-bridge.
I know,.......so?
Well, the bridge is no longer in service.........abandoned.
In fact, it appeared that the multi-million dollar building and grounds are partially on the old right-of-way.
It struck me as to what a stark contrast it was to see the two structures so close.
It was said that: "one of the things about the new library,.....it is so transparent, and open".
Without getting into "politics",....to ME, that bridge was also a "monument"........... to this nation's lost commerce.
That railroad bridge is the PERFECT symbol for all the downsized, laid-off, out-sourced, under-employed, workers...some, "living lives of quiet desperation"....trying to prosper in an ever-shrinking job market.
Like those who don't reconize the problem,....(businesses, government, and politicians, etc.)..................
I guess they missed the irony too,......right there, "out in the open".
