Well, over the weekend I went and picked up the new
Yamaha DVD-C750. Its a 5 disc universal player, and so far, so good. Sound is excellent and the video quality is far abover the old Panasonic I had and also much better than the Panasonic F87 I bought a few weeks ago and just returned. I've only had a few hours to play around with it, but so far its a very nice player for the money

does the C750 have sacd/dvd-a capabilities. if so, let us know how that turns out.

i am curious about getting a carousel player, i just have a little apprehension due to the history of those breaking down. i would be curious as to who has had player probs, specifically with carousel mechanisms.

Yes it does have SACD and DVD-Audio
I was really hesitant about a five disc for the same reasons but I really wanted one because I have people over all the time and changing the CD's wasnt a chore, but it did kind of stop the party

To try and ease your mind I have had a Yamaha 5 disc CD player for years and have never had any problem with the carousel (or anything else for that matter).

I have had the Integra 8.5 for about six weeks now. No problems so far (knock on wood). Sound quality is simply amazing and video is the best I’ve ever seen. It’s markedly better than my Toshiba and the Toshiba is no slouch in the video category. It’s nice to pop in six CD’s for parties and get togethers. That’s why I went with this unit. I am disappointed with MP 3’s and WMA’s disks though. They just don’t sound right after listening to CD’s. I know that’s another topic, but worth mentioning for the folks who burn party disks and play them in single disk players.

bigjohn, my experience is like Stuart's (expatbrit). I have had a Yamaha 5-disk CD-only carousel for about 10 years. It gets VERY heavy use, as I usually have it on "random" play every day. Despite all the moving its parts have done, I can report no problems whatsoever. And the access time on carousel players is very fast compared to jukeboxes (provided you have only one jukebox).

I have a Sony 5 disc changer that is 13 yrs old and although it isn't quite as smooth as it used to be, it still works just fine n dandy.

Wid,

How's the quality of that Sony? I figure when this CDP craps out (it's proven its worth many times over already) I would like to jump to Sony's bottom ES line. I hear the quality is marginally better for SACD playback than the DVP 755V (which I own). It also seems affordable for a well-made, good sounding 5 disc player. Any complaints?

I've got a 9 year old JVC 5 disc changer-no problems except two of the buttons have died, and it's a little noisy. It's the cartridge CDPs that have tons of problems.
