A while back....I was reading posts here and in reply, Someone mentioned that they leave Their a/v amp's tone controls "neutral".
They went on to say, reasoning: "so as to not "color" the sound.
I like the highs, cymbals, etc.......so in the past, I used an equalizer in my old stereo system, to adjust the sound to My tastes.

On My new system, I Had the bass neutral, and the treble all the way up...........that is until the other day.
I kept thinking off and on about the "coloring" issue brought up here.....so I decided to try both tone controls neutral.
after a few cds, I find that the sound is even better than before, now that I'm used to it.

So I want to thank the forum member who got Me to try something "new".................I'm just sorry I can't recall Who it was.

One other thing......My a/v is a Yamaha, and like the M60's, it likes to play CLEAN and LOUD....I think they are a good match for Anyone interested in a recomendation.

Wow, M60's with the treble all the up, I'm surprised your ears weren't bleeding. I still get the impression on certain CD's that these things have way too much treble energy.

I have not heard the "treble harshness" You refer to from My M60's.........maybe You have a poorly mastered cd.

Don't get me wrong, on most of my music collection I love the detailed response of the M60's - particularly on jazz recordings. It is on some of my rock CD's (Mettalica, Megadeth etc.) where there is a lot of cymbal crashing that the treble energy gets too much for me. Consequently I listen to a lot less rock music that I used to, which is a shame. I am currently looking into a set of used or B-stock Rocket RS750's to add to my system as a second zone for 2 channel listening.

You could probably get M50s to achieve a similar result... I don't have that problem, and I listen to the same music.

I know what You mean about cymbal crashes.............they can sound like a semi-truck setting it's air brakes ,.......with "cheap speakers".
Ssssssssssssssssssssssssss, but....(with the exception of some cds) even cymbal crashes sound good to Me...on the M60's.

I post over at av123 as well, and have noticed your posts. I was going to "expose" you , but I wasn't sure you would appreciate it, so I behaved myself.

When I started posting there, I introduced myself, and explained who I was, and why I was there. They've treated me very well even though I own Axioms and don't own Rockets. Lomb7 posts at both forums as well, but he owns both Rockets AND Axioms.

I'd kill before I let anyone remove any treble from my M60s. Get them positioned correctly and control the room (hard surfaces). They do not add any treble to what is already present in the recording. If the CD has too much treble, the M60s will play it that way. They actually do the same on CDs with too much bass, but no one ever seems to complain about that. Maybe people blame their subs, or just turn them down a bit to compensate without giving the M60s a second thought.

None of the people that have heard my system had ever even heard of Axiom before. I tell people to grab whatever CDs they have in their car, and bring them in. Needless to say, every genre of music has been played. I have never had a single person say anything about too much treble. All I ever hear is "Damn...", just the way I like it.

Well, tonight I proved myself wrong by picking up the new Green Day CD on the way home (always been into a bit of punk, even though I was only 11 years old in '77). This CD sounds superb on my M60's and VTF-3 Mk2 in 2.1 'Stereo'. Really punchy bass, superb attack on the drums, and nice shimmering highs. Maybe I just listen to my old CD's too much and should invest in more new stuff!
