Just curious what you guys think. Trying to get a system "at least" as good as the Energy Take 5.2 system (sans sub).
Would a M1ti, VP50, QX2 combo be approximately equivelent in performance?
Thanks for the info.

Matthew, it isn't clear whether you're looking primarily for a size or price equivalent. Sizewise 4 MZeros plus a VP50 are the closest equivalent. However, if a bit bigger speakers are acceptable, I'd suggest that 3 M2s across the front and QS2 or QS4 surrounds would give you better sound. I assume that you already have a sub.

I was more looking at what the equivelent performance axiom was so I could have a basis from which to start.
Looking into a gift and they would want performance "atleast" capable to that of the Take 5.2s so I was wondering where I should start in the Axiom line.

Performance equivalents are a more subjective matter, but I'd think that the 4 MZeros and VP50 would fall into that category. Again, if a little more size is acceptable, the sound could be significantly improved.

Of Axiom's "pre-packaged" HT setups the Epic Micro is the most comparable to the Energy Take 5.2. I asked a dealer who sells both lines how he would compare the two and this is what he said...
"Either of those speaker systems would be fine for the room size you have in terms of impressive dynamics. The Epic Micro does sound better though; more open with more space between each sound. Voices sound more natural too. The difference would mostly be noticable for music listening; for movies it's not as noticable a difference."
I was not able to do a head-to-head test of the two setups, but in separate tests I found I enjoyed the Epic Micro more for both music and HT. A real advantage IMO is the QS2 quad-polar surrounds which create a very large surround field.
I decided to go with the Epic Micro. Too bad Axiom is discontinuing them. That leaves zero options for guys like me who have to consider the Wife Acceptance Factor .

ValueCanuck,
Hopefully Axiom will make a newer, better line of small speakers. If I had a small room, or small budget, or a WAF to worry about, I would definitely have gone with the small line of speakers. As long as they sell, I think Axiom will make them.

I hope it is *just* a rumor but I heard the following:
"Apparently Axiom is discontinuing the Epic Micro and Mini and they will be replacing them with some speakers made in Asia to increase profit. "
I agree with you patchwork, I think there is a good demand for some Bo$e-busters. Many people simply have a very strong WAF to consider and keeping a well made micro / mini line would really appeal to those people.
Ian, care to shed some light on the matter?

I would refer you to a previous thread where Amie confirmed that "The MZero, VPZero, M1 and QS2 are being phased out" There was no mention of any speakers taking their place.
I would guess that poor sales are the reason.
