Here is what I am thinking so far for my new 5.1 setup.
M50ti fronts
VP150 center
QS8 sorrounds
HSU VTF3 - MK2
Yamaha RX1500 or Denon 2805 Receiver (which one you recommend?)
Room Size is 22x16 feet
90% Movies, 10% music
Should I go with M50 or M60s?
Also what are the opinions on M50 or M60/HSU combo?
Thanks.

From all accounts the M60's are cleaner and more detailed, while the M50's are smoother and more laid back. It really depends on which type of sound you prefer.
The Hsu will mate well with any speaker.

both great choices, I went with the M60's as they have a dedicated tweeter and midrange instead of being combined, so I assume they are more detailed. I luv my M60's...

Either receiver is an excellent choice. Alan Lofft leans toward Denon and HK and I use a Denon 3803. Compare the features and pick the one you are comfortable with - you really can't make a mistake with either choice.

Just out of curiousity, is there anyone here who has actually compared the M50s and M60s back to back? I know that Peter has heard both (of course), but I don't know if anyone else has. I'm curious. Well, sort of nervous, really.

This is undoubtedly accurate, but I would guess it's a little less pronounced. It was hard for us to tell the difference between the M22 and the M50 when we had more than 10 seconds or so between listening to the two.
Also, I love my M50s. I just had a Cuban band in my living room, then they packed up really quickly and left, and now Sting's performing!
Also, earlier, Metallica came in with a really crappy boom box as their sound system. (St. Anger).
Ooh, now there's a really good handbell choir in here!

SX, welcome. Ian has posted some valuable info in Stereo on the "studiomonitor" thread(great to hear from him again!!)which shows comparative measurements of the M50 and M60 and may help you to make your decision. My own view would be to go with the M60s.

I have the M50's. Never have had the chance to here the M60's. If the M50's are a little smoother or laid back than the M60's then I maid the right choice. But that's just me. I'm sure you will be happy with either one.
