How do you hook up a hdmi tv and a hdmi DVD player to a reciever (denon 3850) that doesn't have HDMI jacks in the back of it? HELP!!

You don't put the receiver in the equation.
Connect the DVD player to the TV directly, and just use the receiver to switch audio.

Thanks for your help..I think I understand wht you are talking about. But doesn't this negate one advantage of the HDMI cable. Bringing in audio and video in digital format

It sure does, but until HDMI switching is available in recievers, we're out of luck.

your right, I also never understood why Front Projectors are now using HDMI inputs, most FP's don't have speakers and if they did you'd never use that anyway for sound, so your only using the video portion of the HDMI...if your TV has DVI input, you could use that and it would be cheaper than HDMI, then use optical for example to your receiver for sound.
