I am currently working with a Yamaha RX-1500 http://www.audioholics.com/cedia/cedia2004/yamahaRX-V1500receiver.php Will this amp be able to run the M80TIs without problems. I have read many other posts in forums that say it should not be a problem to drive 4 ohm spekaers with this amp even though the manual shows the ablity only to run 6 or 8 ohm speakers. Also, if it is able to run them would I run them in the 6ohm setting VS the 8 ohm? Thanks

Hopefully someone on her that actually runs 80's with the 1500 will chime in soon. Back when I was trying to select a receiver, it was down to the Yammy 1500, Elite 54tx, and Denon 2805. Since I was looking at the m60ti's, the ohm rating was not an issue. However, I ended up going with the Denon, as I was told directly by some people at Axiom that have been with the company since its beginning that the Denon/Axiom combination is a match made in heaven. boy were they right.. I'm sure the Yammy would sound great also, I would just make sure about the 4 ohm load. You may find it plays fine for a while, but gets warm and eventually the internal circuitry may shut the receiver down, not sure..... Harmon Kardon, Denon, and some NHT brands have been proven to run the 80's with no problems. Another option would be seperates....

good luck

Axiom recommends Denon and HK for the M80's.

the best thing to do is call Axiom and ask them if the two will jive or not. and maybe a member will reply who is currently mixing the two.

I meant to say NAD not NHT, anyway you could also call Yamaha tech support to see what they say about driving 4 ohm speakers.
