PM, Ray's information is correct; the 1083 is identical to the 3803 except for the model number. Denon supplied the 1083 to supposedly less prestigious retailers to be sold at a slightly lower price. In my view the 1083 should be preferred over the 3802.

Denon rebadges many of their products. The 2805 is also the 985 only the 985 is about $100.00 cheaper.

If true, this is amazing. Talking about marketing BS, and cheating customers. Poor 2805 owners ...

Like Chevy Trucks and GMC. The GMCs usually cost a bit more although the only difference these days is usually the grill design.

But... but... they're professional grade!

The Cadillac Escalades are even worse. $100 in body cladding, $100 in a different grill design, maybe $1000 in leather interior, and you can charge $20K more! And people buy the damn huge ugly things!

<edit>
IMHO.

Oh an you forgot to mention drop another 10k on wheels and tires; tires that last no more than 10k in miles too. Too bad most of those folks are upside down on their payments as well.

Ray3 - hope it didn't sound like I was being dismissive of your earlier helpful post - thanks for this and your further input. As always lots of great contributions on this forum. Very strange marketing strategy from Denon!!

Still tempted to proceed with a Denon purchase if I can find a good price on a reconditioned unit - sounds like they don't fritter away money on their marketing department or their user manuals so perhaps it all goes into the hardware!!
