Anyone who wants to come to Portland can bring whatever equipment they want to throw into the mix. I will have persons here we can trust to reconfigure systems as needed. I will start talking date and time if/when we get a good mix of people and equipment to sign on. I would like to test some theories I have seen and/or heard around here:

All receivers sound the same
Interconnects are/are not important
Speaker wire is speaker wire
A D2910-class player sounds $500 better than a $150 player

It would also be a good chance for people to audition various equipment. So, if you can get here to Portland easily, let me know. I'll even cook up some BBQ. And no, you can't sleep here. Our house is too small. And our 3 dogs get
the couches.

Mark

PS: If we do this and you post your thoughts, beware that you may be labelled a shill for any company Jimmy1 happens not to like at the time if you prefer one piece over another.

Could have done without the "PS".

Try taking the high road next time...the view is better.

I agree with spiff, but I still find the prospect tempting. It would be a lot of fun. If you schedule it sometime around Easter, I just might be in the area, but I doubt I'll be able to bring any equipment other than my ears.

Would definitely be a lot of fun depending the equipment you will have available. Plane tickets to Portland are cheap for those of us in California too.

If I can make it out there I'll bring a brand new pair of M3s or M22s. We can use them to try to settle the speaker break-in question, if you guys don't mind listening in mono for a while.

Can my dogs sleep on your couch ?

Sorry about the PS. It was a cheap parting shot from today's low-intensity conflict.

Now, it all depends on who can show up for sure and what equipment they can bring. You can see my setup below. If you want to drop in but can't bring any equipment, that would be fine. But I need a mix of different equipment to make it worthwile. I'm going to invite the Subwoofer Showdown participants. I'll post to some local forums and put a flyer up at Fred's Sound of Music here in Stumptown. Let's give it a week or two and see what happens. The SW Showdown was a real blast. Let's make it happen!
