Hello all,
As of last week I was in the market for a new pair of floor standing front speakers. I shopped around the local audio dealers and fell in love with the Klipsch RF-35’s and came very close to purchasing them. Upon consulting my audiophile/tech friend he highly recommended me to check out the Axiom website. After doing so I proceeded to read the forums, reviews and researched through Google about the Axiom product and after doing so I became confident in taking the Axiom challenge. I live in San Francisco California so I’m sure I have a substantial wait for shipping. I chose the M50ti (pair) and will be running them on a Denon AVR-1700. As of now I’ll just be using the M50ti’s in stereo mode. I would love to add additional surround speakers (center/rears/sub) from Axiom based on my perception of the M50ti’s. I’m a student at San Francisco State so budget is somewhat of a factor. I plan to use this setup, and future additions, for music and HT about equally. I’m hoping some of you could give me advice and suggestions regarding estimated time of arrival (shipping length, speakers left Axiom on a Monday), weather or not my current receiver is sufficient for the M50ti’s in stereo and possible, further 5.1 expansion and finally recommendations of brand and model for said expansions (center/rear/sub) while keeping in mind I’ll be using the Denon AVR-1700 (if no reasonably price upgrade for a new receiver is recommended). I’m looking forward to the new purchase and thank you all in advance for your input.

Mat

Welcome aboard, the M50 posse will be glad they have another member They ship Axioms 2 day Fed Ex, so you should get them on Wednesday, or possibly Thursday, depending on when they shipped on Monday. There are a lot of folks that love the M50's so I'm sure they will chime in soon. Axiom speakers are very efficient, so you should not have any problem driving them. I used to be a Klipsch man, but once I heard the M60's it was no comparison.

Your 1700 should be fine running a 5.1 setup. A question we like to ask around here is how big your room is. That will help determine what size the other speakers need to be.

If you're on a budget and you have a modest sized room, I'd recommend the Axiom QS4s for surrounds, and the VP100 for the center channel. This would come to $640 for the three speakers. Now for the sub...that one REALLY depends on the size of your room. So I'll hold any recommendations until I hear back from you on that.

As a side note. If you order direct the delivery is only 2 day air via Fed-Ex. If you order from the Factory Outlet it will still be two days...plus whatever length of time is stated on the webpage for wait time. The link is on the home page. Most of them seem to be between 1-5 weeks wait time.

I live in Tracy, about 60 miles east of SF and all of my shipments from Axiom arrvied between 10:30 - 11:00 am on the seond day after they were picked up from Axiom. So yours should arrive in the same time frame. If you track them on the Fed Ex site, you will know when to expect them.

Welcome, once again, from the M50, uh, what the heck, from the M3 M40 and M50 combined Posse(s) - ( I may not have the right to say it that way)

Anyway, welcome, we think you made the right choice.

It's not easy being a member, there are enormous forces acting to drag us over to the other side, I'm sure you noticed while reading this forum prior to your purchase of M50s. And you know. (don't tell anyone I said so,) They might be right. There are a lot of them and a very few of us, so.....

I am currently using three M3s up front with the center being inverted, a lot of folks here use an inverted bookshelf as center speaker for a number of reasons, you may have already read about it on these posts. However having just moved into a new home with a larger listening area, will be upgrading to M50s within the next couple of weeks. Be sure and let us know what you think of your M50s just as soon as you get them set-up. (Hey, it may just influence MY decision-lol)

Welcome aboard!

Rich

There's enough of us Bay Area dwellers on this board that we should throw a regional party or something. A rough count puts our numbers up to about 5, I think.
