and ya know the sad thing is that some people have actually bought this stuff... just goes to show you if you throw some scientific sounding mumbo-jumbo in there you can fleece a lot of people. what was it the P.T. Barnum said?

Ray, I was joking also. :-) and, its was sort of an allusion to buying your speaker cable at home depot...

It also helps to add $400 wood knobs to the otherwise crappy sounding $6000 volume control you bought.

I will back up wooden knobs for one reason and one reason only...

I am the king of static electricity buildup.

I get shocked all winter long getting out of cars after sitting on polyester seats... I wear a static strap to bed... and I once (no joke) reset a DDR (digital disk recorder) by leaning close to it with my groin while reaching for a time base corrector in an upper rack. A lightning bolt shot out of my winkie and struck the road rack the DDR was in (or is it the other way around, like lightning goes from earth to the cloud?) and up popped the NT 4.0 boot up screen.

I felt like one of Godzilla's nemises - lightning bolts shooting out of my wedding tackle, striking down all in my path!

so what else was "popping" up there bren?

i am rather 'staticy' myself, so i can feel your pain. i always get shocked when i slide out of the car seat, and then grab the door to push it closed.. BBZZZZZZZT! or like in office space, the door handles to the office after the elevator ride....BBZZZZZZT! and in our home office, where the printer is on the shelf above the monitor, when i reach up to grab a copy, and get my body too close to the monitor, BBZZZZT!. DAMMIT to hell.. i hate it.

but, you are definitely the master. i still got no sparks coming out of the 'little john'. YOU THA MAN!!!

That has got to be the best post I've seen all month.
You need to drop by more often.

Bren,

I literally am wiping the tears from my eyes as I type this. That is the best post I've seen forever. Hopefully your nether region's electron accelerator has recovered by now.

I saw something on a TV show and I felt sorry for the park ranger they featured that has been hit by lightning 7 different times. He's getting off light.

Watching the ladies run from you as you approach them at a dance must be devastating! On the other hand, knowing you can plug yourself into a socket during an outage and keep little Johnny's Iron Lung operating until power is restored must give you some solace.

Nice to see you again my friend! How goes the new venture up there?

I'm not sure about that. I know a few ladys that would probably seek him out.

Have you seen me? Have you heard my idea of a pick-up line? I believe the last one was "sorry, I wasn't staring at you all afternoon, I was just checking out my white balance on the screen behind you"... the fact I didn't ask to sniff her feet is the only thing that kept me from being maced (though, in my defense, we are friends now!)

The old new venture - ehh, turned into exactly what I thought it would, all the wrong people making all the wrong decisions. Fresh-faced new kids hired for other reasons are stepping on the 10+ year veterans' toes about everything. Don't know what they're doing, but everyone wants to play with the cool toys.

On the plus side - been approached by another pro team offering complete creative control and offering me 8x the budget to do it with. Though I will have to move... hmm, let me th - where's my suitcase? *laughs*
