Hi: I have a sub sitting right next to a duplex receptacle and I have a standard one metre power cord coiled up behind the sub and was wondering if I could use maybe a shorter cord, maybe a foot long?. Seems that all the power cords are at least one meter.Any problems using a shorter one? thanks, Huck

Electrically, there is nothing wrong with using a shorter power cord, although it might violate some UL or CSA requirement. I guess my question would be Why bother? You don't lose any performance with the longer power cord.

No cable is ever the right length.

Let's use the following example:

A DNF Controls ST-300 VTR controller with T-bar slo-mo and two Sony DSR-DR1000 DDRs - at most, three feet away from RS-422 connections.

We were shipped four 50 foot cables.

50 feet. I mean, the "tape" guy is never anyone's favorite person, but even I'd feel bad making him sit 50 feet away.
