Buying Axiom Epic 80 System speakers and SVS sub for large room 17 x 23 with 17 foot vaulted ceilings. Need HT receiver and DVD player. Issue: 4 ohm load fronts.
Leaning toward Denon AVR 3805, HK635 or NAD 753.

HK and NAD both list 4 ohm spec’s.

At what point should you consider buying separate AV receiver and amps (Outlaw) instead of an intergraded AV receiver like the 3085. Opinions abound about driving 4 ohm loads with and without separate amps. Budget is $2K for receiver and DVD combined.

New and used are a consideration. Space is not a concern for components. Hard wood floors may be in issue. Current TV 65” wide screen on Cox HD-DRV box.

Your recommendations please?

As you know theres a few routes you can take this. Processor and seperate power amps for all channels, such as monoblocks, or something like a 5 or 7 channel amp. This would be the most expensive route..And possibly the best. But for most people its not practical.

Next is get a reciever, and a power amp for the 80's. If you have the money this could be a good route to take, especially if your like me and would use the system for mainly 2 channel listening. It will take some of the load off the reciever since it doesnt have to power the fronts along with everything else. Something like the NAD your talking about and a C272 or older 270 would be a sweet setup.

Then of course there's just getting a reciever. Hey this is a great option to. You dont really need to have a seperate amp for the 80's just because theyre 4 ohms. I think if you went with the 753 you could be wishing you had a little more power, although im more that confident it would work just fine. The T773 sure is nice though *wink wink* And i dont think you'd need more power with that beast. IMO spending more than 4-500 on a dvd player is somewhat silly but spending a good chunk on an amp is ok since its something you could have forever and its pretty much the heart of the system.

HK 7300 gets my vote. I simply love my 7200. It's a friggin brute of an AVR. 1300 and change for the 7300 at one-call.
