The dahlquist qx20r has a switch on the bottom of the speaker that allows you to change the speaker from direct radiating to ambient. Does the qs8 have this feature? Is it a gimmick easily accomplished through my receiver (denon 3802) without adding additional speakers? I thank you all in advance for your input.

The QS8 doesn't have a switch. I doubt your receiver will do it for you either. I can tell you this, the QS8's sound incredible in my system.

the switch on the Dahlquist is to activate the drivers on the side of the speaker, and disactivate the one of the front so it disperses sound like a surround speaker. The tweeter is always active. I think they put this so you can switch it to your liking if you go from movies to, say, DVD Audio.
