I have "auto surround" turned "off" in the setup menu. With that in mind here is my problem. With a Denon 2910 connect via a audio coax cable to the 2805, when pressing "mode" to switch from "ext in" the "auto" mode is selected. On some discs any further playback is assigned Dolby D + pl2x and I cannot seem to change this assignment. Is this done because of the way the disc is recorded or am I missing something?

I'm still learning things about my 2805 everyday, not sure I can help. Why do you have "Auto Surround" turned "off"? I believe I have mine turned on, but can still select other surround formats if I want to. Most DVD's are in Dolby Digital, but some are DTS, you can change that option on the DVD's movie menu setup options. However, I can still select the PLIIx modes or the DTS variations if I want.

I have auto surround turned off so that I can assign what mode
to use. Unless I'm mistaken with it on it automatically picks the mode. I guess its back into the manual, again!
