Hi all,

Back in March I submmited a post on recommendations for Ht setup, thanks to all who responded, you where all a great help getting me started! Since then I purchased the Yamaha 2500 receiver and after alot of research (my brain hurts!!) and going back and forth on different brands of speakers, I kept coming back to the Axiom's. Well I'm going to pull the trigger on the 60's within the next week or so,they seem like they will be a good fit for my H/T set-up. Over the next several months I'll finish off the rest of the system with the VP150 and QS4's. As far as the sub,I'll probably go with a SVS sub. Read alot of good things about SVS subs,so I'm leaning in that direction, unless someone here can convince me otherwise. Again thanks to all of you for the GREAT ADVICE!!!! You've been a great help, at least to me, my wife would probably disagree.

Sounds like an excellent setup. The only other company I'd suggest for subs (beside Axiom of course) would be Hsu. I've never heard a better sub than the VTF-3 (and yes, I've heard some SVS subs)

welcom Gazer, you will love your new setup, I do I would also consider the Qs8's over the 4's if you can afford the difference. The 4's are great, but 8's are better

Also, I would recommend ordering from the Factory Outlet on the Axiom Store page. You will get 10% off, and if you order 5 or more items, another 5%.

Congrats on the 60's... You'll love them.

You MAY want to look at the QS8 instead of the QS4 when you are ready to buy. I heard a couple of setups with 60s, vp150 and then either QS4s or QS8s, and I liked the QS8s a little more. The QS4s are very nice, but you don't want to second guess yourself later. The QS8s handle more power, go a little deeper and are slightly better timbre matched to the M60s.

Pleanty of time for you to work through that before buying.

As for subs, I really like my SVS. I was very close to pulling the trigger on an HSU sub before I got the SVS. The main factor there was that I could get a HSU for a great deal, but by the time I went to buy, the place was sold out with no more coming in.

As you have probably found out, the HSU and SVS subs are highly recommended, and even were preferred by pretty much everyone here until Axiom came out with some of their "big boy" subs. That happened after I bought my sub.

If you pick any of these 3 sub brands, you will be happy. One note about the SVS. I got a cylinder sub, and my wife "freaked out" on me. She was telling me "that is going back" but now that my stuff is set up in its permanent location and not our main living room, she is OK with it. I have a couple of photos on my web site's construction link.

Congrats on the decisions. I agree about the WAF on the cylinders. I got a better WAF with the matching sub and I love my EP500. Ditto on the QS8s.

How does the Axiom 350 compare to the SVS PB12-ISD sub? The cylinder subs are definitely out of the question,I'll get run out of the house! As for the surrounds, the QS4's maybe a better fit for our setup, our room is 14'x15'with 8' ceiling. The only reason for going with the 60's versus the M22's is that the mains will be spaced almost 14' apart from each other and I'm looking for a speaker that can put out decent bass without a sub. The Yamaha 2500 turns off the sub in pure direct mode,so having the mains put out good bass is important. If you all feel that the QS8's are the way to go, considering the size of the room I'll give'em a try. BTW, Sirquak & Nickbuol very nice setup's thanks too all for ur advice.

The 60s will give you serious bass. I've had 60's. I like the pure direct mode on my Denon as well.

Still think 8's are the thing.

Can't help you with the SVS-ISD, but someone will chime in.

In that size room you could get great results from a smaller sub. You may give up a little depth, but it will not matter.
How about that $200 10" Klipsch sub at Costco? Then use the savings to get the QS8s.
That's my advice.

Geez, Costco subs? C'mon, a good sub is better than "better" surrounds.

I can't speak for the Axiom 350 because I have never heard it, but my SVS PB12-ISD I find wonderful in my 15x15x15 room. I have the gain/volume at about 35% and am really happy with it. Of course if you are a "bass head" you might need more, but for my needs I find it to be excellent. Good luck.
