Can anybody give me a good reason not to purchase a Hsu VTF-2 subwoofer to compliment my current setup? I've limited my budget to $500 MAX.

Here's a list of the equipment I have:

Onkyo Integra TX-SV919THX (RECEIVER)
Axiom M22ti (MAINS)
Axiom VP150 (CENTER)
Polk Audio LS f/x (SURROUND)
Yamaha YST-SW60 (SUB) <-------------- this is being replaced by the new purchase

The Axiom M22ti mains are about 7' apart. We sit about 10' back from there. The room measures 17' wide x 20' long. We have 9' ceilings. Though in the future this setup may very likely be put into a smaller, enclosed room.

I use this set up about 50/50 music/HT, though I'm more concerned with the new sub being clear, accurate, and tight for music, than I am about pushing my furniture around the room with HT!

I have a VTF-2 and I love it both for movies and for music. I've never heard anyone complain about the performance of a Hsu or an SVS... you can't go wrong with either of those.

I recently purchased the M22ti, VP150, QS8 surround, and the SVS PCi 20-39. The SVS can pump out some serious bass, but it is BIG. I had it standing up at first, but ended up laying it down in the corner so it is not quite as noticeable. The other one I was considering(and still am if I decide I can't live with the size of the SVS) is the VTF-2. How much better is the SVS then the VTF-2? Will I notice much of a difference? What are people's preferences as far as which mode to use for those of you that have the VTF-2?

I'm guessing that with 67 views and only one reply that I shouldn't be afraid of buying a Hsu then?

Spiffnme, you can check out a lot more opinions over at audioreview.

Zarak, I would imagine that most people use the VTF-2 in maximum extension mode. The only reason I can think of to use the maximum volume mode is if you have the volume knob all the way up and it still isn't loud enough.
