After much thought I decided it was time for a new pair of speakers for my PC. I wanted something which would give me a true audiophile experience, preferably with build in DAC and USB support. After talking with Debbie I ordered the M3 PC speakers because the review for the standard M3 speaker were very positive. When I received them I was very impressed with the packaging. When I previously ordered Axiom products they would arrive in a standard shipping box, but these arrived in a well designed 'rustique' looking box and each speaker was packaged in a small cotton bag. Felt premium from the get-go. After setting up the speakers and connecting USB to my PC a new USB DAC audio device popped up and everything worked out of the box. I was pleasantly surprised with the noise, or lack thereof from the speakers when no audio was played. They are very quiet in idle. Also, the speakers use 7watt in idle 24/7 which is about the same as a router so that’s within acceptable range. After pointing each speaker a little towards my listening position for the ultimate sweet spot and playing various music genres I can say without a doubt that the stereo experience is top notch. Calling them PC speakers is kinda misleading. If I told someone I bought new PC speakers I bet they would be thinking about small plastic speakers and the M3s are very far from that. These are pure active audiophile speakers with a build in DAC and active subwoofer support. Speaking of subwoofers. Should you buy a sub for these speakers? Yes, yes you should. While the M3s perform admirably on the low end nothing beats getting that extra thump in music and games. I used them without a subwoofer for the first few weeks before I decided to get a refurbished SVS PB-1000 for them. I gotta say, combining the M3s with a decent tight sub has given me the best stereo experience I ever have had the pleasure of listening to. I feel that the quality of my flac music is flawless when using the DAC. No extra noise or distortions are added and as mentioned before close to no hissing when nothing is played. They are quite expensive for PC speakers, but if you compare them to a high end audiophile bookshelf speaker things start to even out. Only caveat is that I would have liked some method of adjusting volume from the front of the speaker or perhaps using a small wired box with a knob on it.
