My 2 cents.
I recently went through the m80 or m60 debate.
I’m using a Yamaha RX-V2400 my room size is 15’ x 13’ and my listening position is 12’ from the speakers.
So I asked myself these questions.
1) Will my receiver handle the m80’s? After a few posts and some answers the answer was yes.
2) Do I listen to a lot of stereo (2 speakers only)? Yes
3) Will I be listening in a 15’ x 13’ room @ 12’ for the rest of my life? No
So I purchased the M80’s, VP150 and the QS8’s. The system is fantastic. I have no issues with the m80’s. So, knowing what I know now, I would have purchased the m80’s even if I sat 8’ from the speakers. In fact, at night, when my wife goes to bed and I stay up I pull the speakers up to about 3-4’ away so that I can turn down the volume and it sill sound loud (I hate headphones ever since the m80’s arrived). Sounds great to me even at 4’.
So that’s just my opinion.
