Thanks, Mark! Believe me, with the first three homes I made offers on, layout and acoustics were definitely a consideration. All of the deals fell through for one reason or another, and I started to reach the point where I'd exhausted all of the available listings that were worth a darn.

This one was on the market 13 days when I looked at the place. I knew immediately that speaker placement was going to be an issue, but it's in a nice, quiet neighborhood at the end of a cul-de-sac off of a dead end street. The neighbors are older folks, and the house is in great shape. New hardwood floors, and it doesn't look like a bunch of damned chimpanzees lived there. Plus, the current owners are a couple who are in the middle of a divorce so they were motivated to sell. All of these elements made the HT layout less of an issue than it would have otherwise been. Of course, now it's turning into a pain...
