Eric, I may not have followed your question completely, but if you're asking if the component outputs on your 1710 can be connected to the DVI input on your Z2 the answer is no(the components are analog; the DVI is digital), but there wouldn't be any reason to do so. Your Z2 is a 720p projector and regardless of what comes in it has to use 720 pixels and progressive scan to show a picture, so it would convert an interlaced input signal to progressive and would scale a 480 input to 720. DVD is 480i and your 1710 can either output it as 480i or can de-interlace it to 480p. In either case your Z2 is going to show it as 720p. Now nothing can make a 480 resolution into an actual 720 resolution, but the picture should look pretty good. So the way you're set up now is the best that you can get out of 480i DVDs. One thing that you can try, though is to turn the progressive scan on the 1710 off to see if the Z2 does a better job of changing interlaced to progressive than the 1710 does.
