You're making this too complicated. First, it's unlikely that you need 12ga, even for your longest runs. Regular 16ga lampcord should be fine at maybe $0.15 a foot and easier to work with than the thicker gauges. This is all, of course, 2 conductor wire; you have no need for 4 conductor.
