I agree, there is no one perfect answer. Some people like more BOOOOOM than others. I think the Axiom pamphlet stated to put the sub knob initially at about the half-way point of 9'oclock for the first setup. Once you have the receiver setup, you can adjust the knob on the sub a little until you've reached your desired sound..
