seems like the cabinet is just too big for the room. I like the idea of removing the love seat and putting the tv by the window. I would suggest something like this though....
Get a nice sleek tv stand that your 50incher can fit on now, but also a stand that will look nice with a flatscreen on it. It will make your room look even bigger. You might as well get rid of the big ol thing now....sounds like when you have the funds, youll be getting rid of it any way to make room for the new flatscreen. The best place to look is on the internet. A lot of audio or furniture stores have very poor selections. Find what you want and order online. Youll save some cash and get what you want. I found this site is pretty good.
