Technically, back in the 80's if you liked Metallica, Iron Maiden and Slayer, you were a "metalhead"
, if you liked Poison, Danger Danger and Bon Jovi, you were a
poseur 
which was a particularly disparaging term to an adolescent male.
Ironically,Judas Priest was a metal band, even though Rob Halford had seriously "alternative" tendencies. Back in the day, he was a badass. I think many of us were too young and naive to know what he stood for...besides metal!
