The m80's can sometimes not play nice with certain receivers because of their ability to play speakers rated at 4ohm. In the past some of the Yamaha and Onkyo's would play fine until you started to crank them up, they would then go into protection mode because of the current being drawn.

The newer models out have been more compatible. Axiom suggests using Denon, HK, NAD, Sherwood Newcastle, and a few others that have proven through the years to have no issues with 4ohm speakers. If your looking to spend that kind of money on a receiver, you have lots of options like the newer Denons with Audyssey MultEQ XT room correction built in.
