My M22s can fill my open 750 sq. ft. main floor with lots of sound. My brother-in-law has the original take 5s, are yours the originals? I like their sound, I think you could easily add the M22s to your system, but as the others have said, I think the bigger problem is the kids are driving the system harder than your receiver can handle which sends distorted signals to the speakers which will kill ANY speaker.

I think it would be a wise choice to order up a set of M22s and try them out, if you find they do not fit the bill, the return cost of shipping is only about $40. I would be surprised if you did send them back. Conversely, you could check the Hearing Things forum and contact Axiom to see if there is any one nearby that could give you an audition of a set of M22, M60, or M80, the bigger floorstanders do sound similar to the M22s, just with more bass.
