Wow, I have the Pioneer 1018. I don't know how efficient those Energy Takes are, but with my old Sonys along with a new part of QS8s, I can't take the volume above -10 dB without me saying, "that's too loud", and backing off to -12 to -15. I did go to -5 once, just trying to get to 0 dB, but there was no way I was going any higher.
It wasn't that the amp was sounding strained and no audible distortion. It was just LOUD.
How high are your kids playing? Tell them to keep it down, or they'll buy the next set of speakers--then show them the price of the Epic 80 - 500 7.2 in high gloss rose wood.
