I wouldn't put Kef, Polk and Totems(laid back, kind of) in the same category with any Klipsch(bright) I have heard. I would say the M3s sound closer to Totems but not really. I think the M3s sound better than most of those and I really don't care for the M3 sound, it's good but not for me.
I would suggest to try the M3s and if you don't like them the return shipping is cheaper, if you do like them, return them within the 30 days and only pay for the cost differential to order the M50s and be happy you found your floorstander you desire.
