Quebec historically is a hotbed of Chauvinism, anti-Semitism and intolerance of anything English, including Canada and the United States. As Casey points out:

They are still upset that the British defeated the French back in the 1700s on the Plains of Abraham(just north of what is now Quebec City) and they make sure the rest of the country never forgets it.


Time to get over it, but they cannot, because ultimately, it is not merely a linguistic or cultural divide, it is a religious divide. Quebec's culture resembles that of France of the mid 19th century.

The only good things I have to say about Quebec is (1) you can still get a superb Onion Soup; (2) Moishe's Restaurant in Montreal.
