instead of waiting on the onkyo 801 to go on sale, whay not just get the 701?? there are only 2 main difference between the two.. one, the 801 has the net card, which allows you to hook directly to yor computer and play music.. and 2, it is 7.1, and the 701 is only 6.1.. now , unless you are going to hook your computer up to your receiver, then essentially the 701 will be just as good. they havbe the same amount of watts, dsp modes, inputs/outputs, and same great remote.
you might wanna look at the 701 and 801 specs side by side, and you might be surprised how similar they are..
i have the 701, and it is awesome.. no probs, awes0ome remote, and easy to follow manual.. you cant go wrong with either decision, but for $429 bucks on macmall.com, the 701 is a total steal!!
