I've never heard any sound out of the tweeter mains like you describe. I'm stumped on that one.

No, I've never turned the gain up above the 75 dB norm with the test tones, so maybe there is something lower on the 500.

It could be my amp then. It may not know what to do with 10 Hz tones.

Yes Mojo, that's the only thing I can think of. It shouldn't be sending anything to the M80s at all when your playing a 10 Hz tone!

Why would you want the gain turned up so far anyway? Like Dave, when everything is calibrated to 75dB's I get the same results...

Guys,

I have my LFE calibrated to 80dB and the rest of my system to 75dB. And I have my cut-off at 80Hz.

With a gain of -25 on my Denon (which is about a watt into each M80), when I put on the 10Hz tone, the woofers and mid-ranges of the M80s are pushing a lot of air. You can clearly see them moving from 6 feet away.

So, when you do that on your systems, do you see the M80 woofers and mids moving?

FYI, I have my Denon set so that LFE is going to the EP600 only...none to the M80s.

No, mains are silent for any tone reasonably below the set 80 Hz x-over (say around 65 Hz or so). It sounds like there is something not right in your processor's setup, such as LFE set to "FULL + Sub" (but I realize you stated this was not the case). Even if it were, 10Hz is really much lower than the M80s could deal with anyway. I'm confused

* EDIT * After reading the other thread in Technical Questsions, I see that it was the Direct-Mode in the Dennon's, but I stand corrected in that the M80s apparently will attempt to handle frequencies as low as 10 Hz!

Just a little update. I remeasured the wall where my TV will be going and it is 8' NOT including the door (this is in my actual unit, not just the model). So seems like that location will work out really well.

I downloaded SketchUp tonight and played around with my new place. I have most of the walls, etc. up. Now I can start to place some furniture and audio equipment!

Once I get some more stuff in the place I'll update you all.

Nice-looking layout. Can't wait to see it full.

Second that. I really like the layout.

First and foremost -- that is a big honkin' room from a subwoofer's point of view. Definitely 60/500 over 80/350.

Second -- with open space on the left and window on the right, it's going to be a challenge getting good imaging. Any chance of rotating everything to the right by 90 degrees, so the speakers are flanking the window and the main listening chairs/couch act as a room divider between kitchen/dining and living room ?

If not, you're probably going to want to look at some heavy drapes for the window to try and match the open area on the left.

EDIT -- looks like I wasn't the first to suggest rotating the room
