It's totally an act. You can see him crack a smile when Letterman closes with "It sure was too bad you couldn't be here tonight." Letterman at his finest - so funny he even got J.P. to break character, so to speak...

The video of him rapping at a nightclub looking inebriated and then falling off the stage is pretty hilarious.
He did release a statement to the press after the aforementioned video saying that it's not a joke, stunt etc. and that he didn't care what people thought. It was on Yahoo news yesterday.
The only reasonable argument for owning a gun is to protect yourself from the police.
