Half-Life 2 on the PC is one of the best games of all time, period!

Yeah, if the free demo doesn't draw you in, the game won't. It's a good demo.

PC for me. I need to get back into it. I got stuck at some battle that I keep dying in, though. PC here too. Charles where are you stuck? I have found that crowd control is essential, required even, for the really tough fights. If you keep two mages in your group you can keep enough enemies frozen, asleep, etc. that it can really turns things around for you. I generally let the AI handle the fighters attacks but I retain control of the mages who are in charge of crowd control. Occasionally, I might take over a tank long enough to get him to taunt a mob off of me or my other mage. I recall a particularly tough fight in the Dwarven underground, "The Deep Roads," where I had two mages just completely ping-ponging cones of cold on a ridiculously nasty mob boss to keep her frozen solid while my fighters killed the rest of her gang. A lot of fights require some very inventive strategies, which is one of the reasons why I find it enjoyable.

The storyline is great, and it makes you really care about the characters who team up with you (Alistair in particular). You might just be surprised at how close you and Allistair can become, depending on some of the personal choices you make within the game. "Not that there is anything wrong with that." said in my best Seinfeld voice.

Well you can make the same choice with Morrigan, the scantily clad female witch, if you prefer. Perhaps a seductive demon is more your thing or just choose 'keep your sword in it's sheath' if you will. I'll give them credit for not insulting anybodies personal life choices anyways. I should also mention that it never does show anything beyond what a PC movie would but the intent is fairly obvious.
