Rick, for the receiver I'll again suggest the 707 refurb from Accessories4less for about $400.
If the QSs are definitely out, then yeah, the M22s plus M2s. For the center, phantom, M2 or VP100.
Under the budget with the phantom, otherwise just about at it.

After Dean's review of the M2's being similarily good as the M22, I would suggest M2's all around even for a center if she can fit in. What Jay said!

There was no foul on the play. Dr. Horse offered his suggestion of an alternative manufacturer (which he felt was a similarly good speaker) AFTER Wid mentioned he would also consider other manufacturers. I didn't see anything offensive in his recommendation personally. Had House's post been the very first response in this thread before anyone had made recommendations for this speaker or that speaker then I may also have called into question his patronage. But in this case he was really only giving information that had been requested. Also he didn't state that he felt the Ascends sounded 'better' than the M22's, only that tests show that they give an even flatter response than the Axioms. All in all I didn't feel he was discrediting the M22's or Axiom at all. Only giving his recommendation for a cheaper alternative.

Look, Micah, I have no problem with people loving their speakers regardless of brand or price. I have no problem with people explaining their experiences. I don't even care about people shopping on the internet for perceived value.
My concern continues to be with assertion of objectivity when comparing the Ascend with the M22 based solely on third party graphs that are 7-8 years old.
But I guess I'll just take my shame and go sit in the corner now.

I did post measurements from each manufacturers website as well. You did not read them? Are you telling me Axiom and Ascend are promoting 8 year old measurements of their speakers on their websites when each have claimed to make improvements over time? Wouldn't it reflect in quantative/objective measurements?
My real concern is the act of spewing disinformation by sniping portions of posts with blatantly false accusations.
Sadly, this forum is becoming a place where you can't even help a individual with a specific question about a different manufacturer, share different opinions without being attacked by fanboys, accused of being negative or having agendas when it does not toe the company line. What a shame.
