Robb, everything that I've studied on this point(at least from sources that I consider to be relatively reliable)indicates that the amplification is essentially identical and that the differences are cosmetic and a relatively minor feature or two. In particular, Yamaha addresses this directly and distinctly in one of the informative FAQs here .
