Tori, welcome. Sure, the 2808 should be fine for your use, but there's really no "right selection", meaning that the other similar receivers from Onkyo, Yamaha, etc. wouldn't be "right". Moderate cost receivers these days are excellent and should be bought considering features and price.

Incidentally, "massive speakers" frequently are more sensitive than smaller ones and require less power at a given sound level.
