I and I believe Alan has posted preferring the tweeters a little above ear level. From some testing I just did with my M80s a week or so ago I found that they actually sounded best to me with the midranges closer to ear level. It greatly improved the ambience in 2ch music and improved the integration of the mains with the surrounds. I suspect is has to do both with the orientation of the drivers and raising the tweeters and midranges higher above the furniture so more of their acoustical energy is bouncing around the room before getting blocked and absorbed by the furniture.

Long before doing the testing I always proffered my speakers elevated I’m just trying to now to figure out why.
