He is referring to the switch on the receiver. The M80s have a lot of kick and punch all on their own, as they should with their more than capable low frequency response.

I don't get more kick with my sub than just my M80s. I do get more rumble with explosions and other movie lfe and more satisfying deep bass on my pipe organ cd.
