[. . . There are not that many US built muscle cars with IRS, which is too bad. I can't think of many other than the vette. I think it's just a dollar thing. Most of the exotics have IRS, or even AWD with independent suspension.
Exotics? Hardly. Other than trucks, just about every modern vehicle on the road except for a few cheap econoboxes has an independent rear suspension. The big exception would be the Mustang, which soldiers on with a solid rear axle.
As far as "American muscle cars" go, the Camaro, the Challenger, and the Corvette all use an IRS. So if that's what's holding you back from pickup up that new SS or SRT-8, fear not!
