i have a 2 months old SR5005 and use it as a pre-pro.
i do have a medium loud pop when switching the thing on.

Hello Jacques,

I would say that issue does not fall under normal operation as our 5005 here does not perform that way when using the pre-amp hooked up to an external amp. I would recommend you have an authorized technician look at the unit to properly diagnose a physical issue or being that you recently purchased it, please check with your retailer's exchange policy.

I got the sales manager on the phone at the store where i bought it and he said that it is normal to have such a pop.
what i must do is switch on the Marantz first, and then the amps".

this is just sales talk from someone who does not seem to know that repair does not cost the store a cent, it's under warranty.

i will not have it repaired or exchanged, because it does not bother me to switch on the pre-pro first and then the amps; i've always done that...

but it could be a problem when it's used as a receiver, as the amps can't be switched on later, after the preamp has stabilized.
