My livng room setup kind of required that the TV was placed in the corner, therefore putting my VP150 about 2-3' behind my M22s.

The setup has worked fine for me with the exception of the "low dialogue volume" that people occasionally ask about on this forum. I can use my SPL meter and Avia disc and calibrate it perfectly on paper, but I usually end up bumping the center level up about 2-3db.

I'd imagine this placement might be more of a problem if you're seriously into SACD/DVD-A.
